This was driving me nuts. I found out it is from the newest Adobe Flash Player having some conflict with Camtasia.
There is a fix for the video maker - http://videomarketingtactics.com/how-to-get-rid-of-camtasia-chipmunk-noises.html
But if the video you want to play hasn't been fixed - or Adobe hasn't fixed it then here is what I did that works - get an older version 9 Flash Player.
Go to your control panel, add remove programs and uninstall the flash player there.
Then Go Here http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/alternates
Download and run the Flash player Uninstaller.
This will uninstall the current Flash Player in the browser.
Yes you have to uninstall in both locations. Don't ask me why, I didn't write the stupid software.
Then go to:
http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14266&sliceId=1
Download the Flashplaer 9 Zip file, it has all versions of player 9
open the zip file then the 9r28 folder and run flashplayer9r28_win.exe AND flashplayer9r28_winax.exe
Chipmunks all gone.
-This for windows, I am using XP. Might or might not work for the junk Vista O/S
-If you use MAC and have chipmunks, get a gun. No just kidding, Follow the same websites, uninstall and use 9r20 - mac version. Theoretically that will work. If it does please post so for the MAC users.
