I've been sorting through some of the old genealogical records and I've found a line that goes from Denmark (Jonssen) to Sweden (Johansson, then Jonsson, then Jonasen) to America (Johnsson, then Johnson) and that's where the spelling ended - with Johnson. I wouldn't be surprised if we weren't related, because my Mom says that original Danish family (Jonssen) was large and many of the descendants on those children moved to a lot of different countries, but only a few to America.
