Looking for a new challenge, he launched THJ & Associates, LLC in 2003. His company provides both non-profit and for-profit consulting. Key focuses include entrepreneurship, education, and self development. He works with individuals or groups who have a keen desire to build a small business that reflects their passion and purpose by guiding them through a direct, simplified, and functional business planning process. THJ Associates specializes in facilitating a thorough business planning process that delivers a coherent, easy-to-read business plan appropriate for either a person who is new to owning a business or a banker to review for investment. Theodore is a Distinguished Toastmaster and is a very active keynote speaker at conferences and seminars. These days his topic of choice is social networking and social marketing.

Theodore Henderson – DTM (Distinguished Toastmaster), was presented with the Presidents Distinguished Area Award by Toastmasters International via Toastmasters District 46 in New York. This award, which is presented to any Area Governor who distinguishes themselves at the highest level in a single year by meeting all specific District goals, was presented to Theodore at an awards January 16, 2009 ceremony at the Toastmasters Leadership Institute in New York, New York.

The award is used to motivate people to set communication and leadership goals, and to work towards excellence in the Toastmasters program, along with recognition of outstanding service to the clubs in their area as well as the District. The award has the effect in a marked increase in educational goals achieved by members and member retention.

Theodore, who has already received his DTM- Distinguished Toastmasters award, also achieved a Competent Communicator award during the last year, "There is always something new to learn about yourself and the people you serve with in the Toastmaster experience", he said. Theodore, who currently serves as an officer in two clubs he helped to found, believes that setting an example for others to follow is a key requirement of motivating a team.
