Just launched a new social network for politics, news, citizen journalism, and civilized debate -- Weoped.com. We're trying to grow a community of engaged citizens who can find one another through the issues they care about. As I've been put in charge of our marketing plan, I am looking to learn new ways to help with out SEO and getting the word out to bloggers and other relevant websites.

Hey man, I just browsed around Weoped ... I like what I'm seeing. Very good stuff. I also read the blog a little.
Civil Discourse ... don't ever lose sight of that. That's key. That's what is going to seperate you from other activist site's representing both parties. If you pursue this hard, it's definitely going to be getting in the news. When that kind of attention comes you're way people from all sides of issues are going to look for something to attack on. Keeping civil discourse and being in line with the people, in a disciplined manner ... that's definitely going to put you over the top in the public eye.
See, like PBS, they have tremendous capacity for marshaling the facts. And the Cable TV can rouse the hype. But somewhere in between is where you can make things happen in a way others institutions can't.
Um...what else ... just let the site grow and flow as you bring more people into it. Keep on top of the quality of the content. Make sure people are happy using the site. That's of course, as you roll along.
Here's a good one. Local-ness. Don't over emphasize national issues. I think that as you draw people in ... that will take on a life of it's own. Get to people where they live first. That's gonna get you loyalty.
A great use of the groups section is to sponsor some local causes. That will definitely bring more members. Go to the unions, community board meetings. Dedicate a group to the town or the county. And then tell them that if their voices aren't getting heard in the papers ... come on in to Weoped. You can even spearhead it with interviews.
If you brainstorm this long enough ... you can come up with some wild stuff and get more people involved too.
Just don't overload yourselves in the process. That's a big one.
why do i always see those two guys' funny looking messages ... i swear they've got some kinda widget or ...
HEY, man, nice to meet ya.
Don't have to click on the links to know you've got a good idea. PLEASE help engage our citizens of America ... I'll help out any way I can, in my own special.
Merchantology works as well for selling apples and widgets as it does for ideas and causes. Check it my page. Big stuff's in the works.
Don't leave this place ... it's good for your marketing.
And don't quit what your doing ... your country needs it. Stick with the people, they'll stick with you ... like Swedish Fish when you chew it. :)
Will you be my friend...please? Just kidding.....I would love to share my daily passion, The Lang Report with you and also encourage you to leave a comment or two if you feel stirred by its content.
I have been invited to network with colleagues here at Social Marketing Central and I wanted to extend my network to you and others that I share my interests or that I have previously networked with or have a professional relationship.
