After reading Dr. Ron's massage below, I just wanted to add that while you have 1500 keywords only 50 probably get any searches.

You need to identify how much traffic each search term gets.

Second you need to consider whether or not you can get ranked decently under the high traffic terms.

Look at the sites listed under the big terms and check their incoming links and PageRank. PR is really wacky right now but it is somewhere to start.

Target the five search terms that you think you can get ranked under and start building links to your site with the specific word strings in the link text.

I took a look at your site and your web guy does not know search engine basics. You main keywords in your meta tag are not even in your title tag. That is the most inportant place for keywords.

You need a good beginner tutorial on SEO and you will do fine. Contact me directly and I can help too. chris [at] keywebdata.com

What I believe your SEO advisor is trying to convey is that Google and other search engines prefer to refer to specific pages that have content appropriate and relevant to the keyword/topic the one searching was seeking information about.

Your keywords aren't a loss John. They become the fuel and fodder to provide greater depth to your site and added potential weight for the site. It is important that the Search Engines find pages, articles and content beyond the index page.

Too often inexperienced marketers and web designers attempt to point everything at the index or "homepage" of their site. It is much more important to direct links throughout the site. Ideally, you would want a separate unique page or article built around a single keyword and that page would be within one click of the index or homepage of the site.

You then should rely upon a SEO Friendly Site Map like you can create using a free tool like GSiteCrawler. Use GSiteCrawler to create a Google, Yahoo and MSN friendly Site Map and then place the location of your new site map into your webmaster tools area of Google and allow Google to find it. Assuming you have other appropriate pages, such as: Terms,Disclaimers Copyright, etc. you should find your site spidered and indexed in short order!

Feel free to contact me if you have any additional questions, John.

ITs funny how many people I run into with some history in letterpress. I never heard of it till 2001 when I discovered it. Then come to find out, my mom set type when she was young. Small world. Yes I love it here, I can imagine wanting to escape Texas heat in the summer. If I could only escape our northwest rain in the winter :-)

Have a great day!

Thanks for the comment, John! I haven't had any open-sea experience myself. I'd love to get to the US again sometime - depends on how my (now full-time) Internet business does.

Intermediate Social Marketer
About Me:
For 40 years, I have been taking entrepreneurs with budding ideas and converting them into successful national or international franchises. Companies like Fantastic Sam's Family Haircutters, ERA Real Estate, Popeye's Fried Chicken, BlockBuster Video, Jiffy Lube and many others. These were all start-ups when we shared a passion to grow their ideas. In 1996, I entered the internet through the opening of my four-page website and made a significant five-figure income in net profits from the first month. I feel I was able to do this because I spent months building a content rich site with over 500 pages of in-depth information. Now I am really excited over the potential only social marketing provides to anyone regardless of income or experience. It takes persistence, organization, focus and determination but it is worth it! I am almost through in re-developing and refining my sites to reflect this new age doctrine. When through, I know I will be able to tap into the power of the internet in a way as yet unattainable. Keep up the good work! This is a great community and I am very greatful to be a part of it!

The Franchise Treasure Chest: Part 1 "An Overview"

Passing Up on the Opportunity to Make FortunesI
Few people realize the tremendous potential available to them through franchising. There are a variety of internet-based businesses out there that are franchiseable. Unfortunately, far too few are tapping into the tremendous opportunities provided through franchising. Instead, they are by-passing millions of dollars in ongoing revenue by reducing their knowledge to a handful of books, CD's, tapes, seminars, etc. and portioning them ou… Continue
