First of all, this is a thanks to Walt G. for introducing the new Squidoo lens opportunity called Hey, Monkey Brain.
Second of all, this is a bragging and humbling moment for me. Bragging because my first Monkey Brain debate was just picked as a Lens of the Day. Humbling because I realize that you are not totally responsible for your success; you need the help of others. So thanks to those of you who commented early on on this debate. And I hope that many more of you will now check it out. It is truly a testimonial for the power of Web 2.0. Just with the LOTD mention, my visitors shot up immediately.
I'm inspired to turn this into a movement. I want to replace the label "anti-aging" with the label "pro-aging"! Before you say I'm crazy, just look at any ad that you see that touts a product as being anti-aging and replace that with pro-aging. It works. And think of the message that that little label sends. To see how powerful this can be, look at the Dove Ad in my Hey, Monkey Brain lens.
I pinged whenever I had some new comments; I added the link to my other Squidoo lens; I added to del.icio.us, StumbleUpon, my Facebook and in this site. Quite frankly, the biggest increase came when Squidoo picked this Monkey Brain lens for the LOTD ( Lens of the Day). That generated a lot of traffic to the lens. But traffic continues to come from various sources; not even sure where all. But it was fun to do and I plan to do more. First I need to figure out how to monetize these lenses.
Having the traffic on the Lens is great. Also, check your stats at Squidoo. You'll find where the traffic is coming from, and if you're starting to get rank on key words.
"monetize the lenses"... well, you might get pocket-change from Amazon and eBay sales on the lens, but you gotta do something to move the visitors from the lens to your blog, or better yet to a squeeze or list-opt-in page.
When you don't know what you don't know; you don't even know what you need to know. Which is why I love ASC. There are people such as yourself who will help you know what you need to know. I appreciate it. I am going in to the stats right now and will look at how I can push people to the blog or opt-in.
