The Mojave Experiment was where 100 people were asked on camera to rate Windows Vista out of 10.

they were then shown Microsoft's new Windows system, and then asked to rate it, and suprise suprise lots who had previously given 0, and 1 gave 10.

they were then told new system was Vista

My experience with Vista when I started was not good , but then it picked up. But the Mojave Experiment was criticised by a lot of people.

But in the end its down to Microsoft to realise that Vista was sold on machines that couldn't run it properly, and not graphically powerful, a third of computers in America sold with it installed, weren't powerful enough.

I detest Vista and have had ONLY trouble with it on my really cool Sony Vaio laptop.
I thought I was a loner out here with this issue.

First thing I did with my VAIO was delete Vista and put XP on it. With Vista, my 5 gigs of ram and dual 2.5 mhz processors ran slowly. With XP the thing screams.

Can you point me to someone who can do this? take out Visat and put in XP? or am I being a luddite?
I am intrigued by the surface types discussed below.

Donna loads people had probs with vista, most laptrops have on board graphics cards and most on board graphics just not powerful enough

they say it will run in 2gb mem yup but very slowly

its 10 times size of xp

Ive Installed upgrades for so many people, and had probs from everyone

they have implied windows 7 will be smaller and less memory hungry but with some drawbacks ie , some suggestions wont be backwards compatable

but to be honest Installing a fresh system instead an upgrade may be good idea, plus backwards compatability can be solved by running virtual pc

my pc is self built has 2 graphics cards and 8gb memory and still has probs with vista ultimate sometimes

Its laptops Jack Vista screws round with them , its so graphics hungry most graphics chips on board haven't got memory for graphics,

so they take te memory from ram

my 2 graphics cards together have a gig just for memory

but still have set up a partition just for converting 2gig hard disk space into memory

Tip

a separate partition works best, and don't give it all free hard disk space as windows takes what it needs

even my Microsoft Lecturer doesn't like Vista

I do hope windows 7 is smaller and less memory hungry and allows you to manage system tray as that also takes memory

that was point Carrie

and Microsoft new they mucked up with vista

It was 2 big and memory hungry

and from the looks things they maybe splitting their products into consumers and one for techies and geeks

but I wonder how people will warm to say multitouch which allows you to use a touchscreen instead of a mouse

on the other hard disk space is coming down in price so is memory so by 2010 when windows 7 is released disks are way bigger and also memory is 4 gig as standard perhaps.

some are saying most people will need a Terabyte(1024 GB) of space even to hold all their digital music , videos etc

I have a Terabyte of hard disk space at moment in my machine and needing more space soon

then you have Microsoft surface

Im hoping Windows 7 will be just as intuitive with there touch screen multitouch

but the idea of turning any surface into a computer is interesting , walls, kitchen work surfaces, and the surf board customisation looks cool

I do like XP better still, but I've learned to live with Vista. It does some quirky things, and I totally HATE all those freakin' pop ups that warn you when you want to do something. It assumes we're all idiots. Grr...

They should have a screen that comes up when you're setting everything up that says, "Are you an idiot, or do you have a clue about using computers?" Hmm... I know you can turn it off because that was one of the first things I did.

But Surface looks totally awesome. The idea is awesome. But I'll wait until a) it's affordable and b) the bugs are all worked out.

Huge temptation to just buy it, though. LOL
