Social Marketing Central

Social Marketing Central!

Since many of you were interested in social sites that bring you Google backlinks and I am not going to give away the 15 gems that are in my eBook just yet here is one that you will love.

Here is the kicker, I am the moderator and I want you to post you own articles about social marketing. But they have to be about social marketing. They have lots of other groups and you can start your own.

Even if you don't publish articles about social marketing join the group so you can comment on posts and receive the daily email that will inform you of new items.

Social Marketing on Searchles.

I invite you all to join and I can't wait to see you there.

Don't worry Jack I am not out to compete with you, this is a bookmarking site and little known. In fact I expect to see you there very soon and lots of Jack Humphrey posts.

Be sure to add me as a friend there so I know who you are.

Cheers = Chris Lang

I just woke up from my nap, (I take one every day or else I could not work 15 hrs a day) so I am not sure I understand you post?

I have no intention of competing with SMC for visitors, in fact it was in response to many requests from my friends list here that I let this gem out.

So before I can accuratly reply to your comment can you clearify?

Reply to This

I knew that was just pointing out that we can see your other memberships.
No bad intentions on either side.
Joined you of course!

Good to have you, I had just woke up and the Mountain Dew had not taken effect yet, I just did not get your comment. Searchles is one of 15 bookmarking sites that I use. If you do not write internet marketing articles normal content does so much better at Searchles, you can even chop up YouTube videos with their online editor and turn them into Searchles videos for your own content. You can even mash up multiple videos and make a collage of items to support your products.

Searchles is also not a walled garden behind a login, everything is indexed by search engines and open to public view.

If you do post internet marketing articles then definitely join my group there, I will be pointing to articles there from my blog and other the other 20 social groups and 2000 friends I have in social sites, my newsletter subscribers, blog readers and contacts I have online, so this group is going to be powerful and well read.

Obviously this is not self promotion since I am only a group moderator, I cannot post links to sales letters or products myself and I will not let posters to the group do that either. This is meant as just one more place you can get Google backlinks and should be deemed of value to the members of SMC.

Marketing yourself. When I hear the word "marketing", I immediately think of advertising related to selling a product or service. What if you have nothing to sell?
I am a film and pop culture historian. I love movies, TV, and pop culture. One of my goals is to make more contacts and drive traffic to my blog.

What suggestions do you have to better market yourself?

The link above to Searchles is a sub group I started just to give many people I know another place to post their Internet marketing related articles.

If you want traffic to your blog Searchles is alive and humming with TV, Movies and entertainment items, groups and really a great place for your content JTF.

Just look at all the groups you could post to and connections you could make at this link.

http://www.searchles.com/groups/list

I suggest you look around at Searchles, my group was for Internet marketers like myself. A place where you won't get accused of spam when you write an article about Internet marketing and happen to have something you sell along side the text.

I read your articles JTF and we are mutual friends on a few Social sites, I expect you could do very well here and the Google spider follows your links right out of Searchles to your site.

Good question, JTF, I liked the comment of "What if you have nothing to sell?", well the answer to that is "Define the word 'Sell'?" What do you mean by "nothing to sell"?.

When we say "Sell", most of us thinks of "Exchanging, or delivering, something for money". There are some who will add "...or its equivalent" to their idea of the definition. However selling something doesn't necessarily mean that I give you a book and you give me money, gems, or a 6-pack of beer in return. Using the word "Sell" can also mean to "persuade someone to recognize the value or worth of whatever it is you have to offer". This seems to be the definition of "selling" that fits what you want.

You say you have a blog and you want to drive traffic to your blog. Your blog is your product. You may not be packaging it in a fancy case and shipping it off to someone who sends you money for it, but you still have to treat your blog like any other service or product that you wish to sell. You want to promote your blog for the purpose of traffic. Chris may have e-books to sell, but in order to sell them he has to make people become aware of their existence and value. You have a blog to sell, you also have to make people aware of your blog and have them realize it's value and worth. Chris may get money for his product, your desire is to get traffic for your product.

Also I want to stress that even though you do not have a product to "sell" you should be building an email list for the future.

I did not have a product for a long time but I wrote allot of articles about email delivery and spam filters. During that time I built an email list of 400 subscribers.

When I finally launched an infoproduct about how to send email from your server properly I sold $1000 of that eBook to my email list. I would have sat here hoping for a sale without that list.

I cannot suggest an autoresponder enough for a email list management. Even if you buy my eBook on email delivery and set up your email server just as I say in it, these guys get 97% of all the email they send delivered. I can't even do that.

I thank those of you who have joined, Walt Goshert, especially you. You bring allot of validity to the group.

Searchles is beginning to show up in my backlinks to keywebdata.com but it is not enough to just post your blog items. You have to get reader votes from social sites for Google to find you link valid.

That is another reason for this group. Since we already know each other from SMC it is really valuable to build a Social Bookmarking site where we already have a relationship. That way you will get more votes on your posts. Even if you do not write social marketing articles there are tons of other groups and subjects that you can post under in Searchles.

In fact, non Internet marketing articles do WAY better in social bookmarking sites.

By joining my group you can keep up with what is currently going on in social marketing circles easily, you get a daily email from Searchles with links to new posts in groups you join too.

My favorite social marketing strategy is to use social bookmarking sites to create backlinks to your site.

I have found 15 sites so far that Google will follow back to your site and return a backlink in Google results.

However, think about this: If Digg has 5 million users and the average number of posts, from the Digg top 100 to the user who no longer participates is 1 post per day, that is 5 million posts.

How can you possibly expect that Google will see your 1 link in Digg in 5 million others as a backlink to your site. In fact if you submit your site to Digg and no one else Diggs it, I have come to feel that is a negative indicator in Google’s eyes. The worst thing you can do is submit your Digg posts yourself and then get no Diggs.

Rick Butts, here on SMC wrote an article that went hot on the Internet. He got like 1500 visitors in a few days and 80 comments. The bad news is that he only got 18 Diggs. Now tell me this: Don’t you think that Google, that has access to the popularity of posts on Digg just like we do, would not see 1500 visitors and 18 Diggs a negative indicator of this blog and the blog post itself?

I can easily get 100 to 200 Diggs for any article I want in Digg in 2 days. I do that through my own strategies and participation.

So social bookmarking if done wrong can actually hurt you. Social marketing is about being social, so be social on social bookmarking sites, don’t just submit you own content and expect that this will bring you results.

You have to have a high ratio of pageviews to votes to get any worth back from social bookmarking sites, or so I believe.

See you there, Chris Lang

Chris,
I've been away for 6-months (personal emergency leave) so I was only checking very urgent emails and have not been here for a while. This whole social bookmarking and social media is beginning to confuse the bloody hell out of me.
Everyone is a so-called expert and recently a friend sent me an email from Michelle that gave a link to Alejandro Reyes who was asking for comments on his blog asking people to say why they should be chosen to win a free 8-week course that's worth apparently ($497). This contest has now been extended to a new deadline date.
This is how you become a socialmarketingrockstar dot com and 3-lucky people will get in on the ground floor. To be honest I'm getting quite tired of people claiming to have made 5/6-figures in an incredible amount of time - am I foolish or distrusting?
Do you have any ideas on this? How can I disseminate the truth from fiction? I have tried this social bookmarking stuff and it's unbelievably time consuming and I can't seem to measure the ROI in any significant $$ amount.

Reply to This

It is all in how you do it Beau. I have it figured out. Off the top of my head, and about to explode from to many cannolis....

50% converts to email double opt in, 20% sales conversion.

I can't say anything about Alejandro's product, I have not taken his coaching. He is a member here but I have not heard from him.

Actually so far as everyone is a so-called expert:

I have only seen two social bookmarking experts, Stompernet and someone else. I cannot compare the likes of the other guy to Jeff Walker. He, I believe is the guy at Stompernet behind SMARTS. I would say they guys at Stopernet are the only real experts, and not so-called.

Seems to me there's a lot to be learned from the interaction of those of us actively using these sites.

Although I consider myself an "expert" among home business mentors, I love learning from others who have a greater depth of understanding regarding social networks. That is the beauty of the internet!

Thanks for the resource, Chris!
