Google Finally Enters Social Marketing Arena

Today Google may release it's beta of Friend Connect or so they say.

Planning to link all the social marketing sites together, friend connect looks like MyBlogLog from the screen shots. I am really hoping that there is more functionality in store.

I would love to get your reactions here.

I've seen some open source work using XFN data to try and accomplish this same thing.

Maybe it will breath some life into orkut for them.
(it's apparently huge in Asia but not so much here)

I am prepared to be UN-impressed over this new and fabulous release by Google, to tell the truth. With all the hype and conjecture, plus the fact of Google seemingly wanting to stretch this announcement release for as long as it can do so... the new Friend Connect will probably turn out to be just another MySpace or MyBlogLog. We shall have to wait and see.

Joseph, I noticed you have the MyBlogLog social marketing widget on your site... is this helping to pull your so-called "friends"... no doubt others with similar interests and niches online... to your site?

Seems like this is about Google reacting to the all the social marketing activity.Gotta keep the share price rising...

Also, I'm wondering...

If I wear a Nike cap in my Profile pic, could Google cut me a deal with Nike? I'm not expecting Tiger Woods dough, but you know, just a little something for wearing the Swoosh lid?
