Social Marketing Central!

In my post "Ten Ways Twitter Could Appeal to Joe Average and Become Ubiquitous" I discuss ten ways that Twitter could actually prove itself to be useful enough that 'normal people' use it on daily basis like Google.

The question I'd like to ask you all is: How do you currently use Twitter (if at all) and has it been a boon or bane to your social marketing existence

I've had mixed results with Twitter, althoug i'm slowly building my userbase now.

If you're a member of socialpowerlinking.com it's worth checking out the video by Jack and Howie on how to make best use of Twitter... it's at the top of my must-do list for today.

I'll be checking out your post as well :)

Jonathan,
I found this post after doing a search on Twitter in the network. I just posted about Twitter's usefulness as another marketing option elsewhere in the forums but wanted to drop a note here as well. I read your post about average Joe appeal and much of what you wrote would be good uses of Twitter but are already in place with some mass SMS message services. Since Twitter has more of a personal appeal and a one-to-many approach, online marketers can use Twitter plug-ins with their weblogs to announce new posts or to send messages to mobile subscribers about new products or services that are available for their immediate review or purchase. I also use Twitter to post curiosity-catching comments with links back to interesting things on my weblog or networking forum as a means of generating traffic. The key is not to try to follow everybody but to build a group of followers who become targeted subscribers or consumers and friends who become advocates and advertisers. I think Twitter in an interesting option that will take mobile marketing to the next level if used properly.
